Marshall Yellen, M.D.When having surgery, it’s important that you seek a physician who is practicing in the specialty in which he or she was trained, says Dr. Yellen.
Women wouldn’t go to a pediatrician for heart surgery, but they aren’t as vigilant as they should be with plastic surgery and procedures, he says.
Dr. Yellen, for example, is double board certified in plastic surgery and in general surgery. Dr. Yellen is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Be wary of the physician who says he or she is board certified in cosmetic surgery, he says. “There is no medical board for cosmetic surgery.”
